Diabetic nephropathy is a common complication of diabetes, most of patients
with diabetic nephropathy have no symptoms, the risk of blood pressure disorder
will increase with diabetes duration extension. Diabetic nephropathy patients
will experience the increase of renal size and glomerular filtration rate. So,
what inspections should diabetic nephropathy patients receive?
1. fundus examination, receiving fluorescence fundus angiography when
necessary, the examination can check out diabetic nephropathy fundus lesions
such as micro-aneurysm.
2. Glucose is a kind of simple method to screen early diabetic nephropathy,
but there will be false negative or false positive condition in examination of
diabetic nephropathy, so blood glucose measurement is the main basis of
diagnosis.
3. Using nuclide renal dynamic imaging to measure glomerular filtration rate
and using B ultrasound to measure kidney size can be taken in the early stage of
diabetic nephropathy. When patients get uremia, their GFR can obviously decline,
but their kidney size usually has no obvious shrink.
4. Urinary albumin excretion rate(UAE) is a important indicator of early
diabetic nephropathy diagnosis. When UAE level exceed 200 μg/min for long time
or urine protein volume more than 0.5g/24h, the patient can be diagnosed with
diabetic nephropathy.
Diabetes patients need to be beware of diabetic nephropathy, they should
receive routine inspections regularly to ensure their health.
