The common kidney damage due to IgA nephropathy in children

IgA nephropathy is an independent clinical pathological syndrome, which can be shown as glomerular nephritis. IgA nephropathy is one of the main causes of ESRD. The common kidney damage due to IgA nephropathy in children are as below:

1. Paroxysmal gross hematuria
The IgA nephropathy patients will develop gross hematuria after they have got various respiratory tract infections, so it can also be called as pharyngitis synchronous blood urine. Some patients are usually accompanied with abdominal pain who can be diagnosed with urinary stone or appendicitis. The abdominal pain is the performance of systematic small vasculitis lesions, which may be related with small artery inflammatory lesions in ureter and gastrointestinal mucosa.
2. Nephrotic syndrome
Part of the patients will develop high blood pressure and blood urine. The prognosis of patients with glomerular sclerosis and intrarenal vascular sclerosis is poor. Patients with microscopic hematuria and asymptomatic mild swelling will be diagnosed as glomerular nephritis easily, which should be confirmed diagnosis by renal biopsy.
3. Simple proteinuria
4. Rapid-progressed nephritis
The condition is unusual, patients will experience continuous gross hematuria, massive proteinuria, heart and brain affected, renal function rapid deterioration.

Thus the child with IgA nephropathy should seek a proper treatment as soon as possible to prevent further damage of kidney.
