What are the differences between renal edema and other edema

Many of us always thought that edema is the representative of kidney disease, but it turns out that isn't true. To distinguish renal edema from other edema, we should know about all kinds of edema first.

1. Cardiac edema
Right ventricular dysfunction as well as constrictive or effusive pericarditis can cause the increase of venous pressure and capillary filtration pressure, leading to edema.
2. Hepatic edema
Cirrhosis is usually associated with lower limb edema before ascites appearance, mainly start from the ankle, spread upward gradually.
3. Nutritional edema
Chronic wasting disease, long-term malnutrition, protein-losing disorders, severe burn may lead to edema.
4. Other edema
(1)Mucosal edema, the non-pitting edema due to adhesive material on the skin.
(2)Pharmaco edema.
(3)Women in the menstrual period can also present with edema.
(4)Idiopathic edema, which mainly in the sag area, can be seen in adult obese women, the condition have relation with mental or mood changes, patients with idiopathic edema may experience dizziness, tired, anxiety, insomnia and endocrine dyscrasia.
However, the causes of renal edema including:
(1)Water-sodium retention due to the reduce of glomerular filtration rate.
(2)Body fluid flowing into interstitial due to Capillary permeability change.
