Many uremia patients may experience inappetence in their daily life, in
severe cases patients will get anorexia, sick, emesis and diarrhea. Well why
these symptoms occur in uremia patients? The reasons are as follows:
1. The main reason of uremia patients inappetence is the damage of kidney
function due to pathological changes of kidney. When kidney loss its function,
the metabolites and toxins accumulated in body can not be discharged in time,
which will lead to disorder of digestive system or nervous system.
2. As the kidney function decreasing, some of the substances produced by
digestive system can not be discharged through bloodstream, which will
accumulate in gut. The increase of urea in these substances is the most obvious,
the urease produced by intestinal bacteria can resolve the urea into ammonia,
the increase of ammonia will stimulate gastrointestinal mucosa leading to
multiple gastrointestinal superficial ulcer, which will result in the patients
feeling sick.
3. Excess metabolites and toxins in the body will invade into brain tissue
through hemato encephalic barrier, which stimulate brain centres that control
nausea and vomiting, leading to loss of appetite.
When you have long-standing symptoms such as inappetence, anorexia, sick,
emesis and diarrhea, please don’t ignore these conditions, except for checking
the digestive system, it’s important to do a kidney function test.
