Should chronic nephritis patients take eye check?

Disease in a certain part of the body can affect the whole body. The eye is an organic part of human body, plenty of eye diseases are caused by systemic diseases and systemic diseases will induce eye lesion. In some cases, doctors can make the tentative diagnostic only based on the eye lesions, help develop the next step of treatment plan.


Eye lesions of chronic nephritis including optic papilla congestion, retinal edema, radial stripes near macula retinae, stellate-shaped white spot in the macular area, retinal arteriosclerosis, in severe cases, patients will experience retinal detachment, retinal hemorrhage, cotton-wool exudates in eyes. Besides, there is a kind of intractable shiny white spot appears in retina deep layer, near the optic nerve, which is a sign of chronic nephritis.
Diffuse chronic glomerulonephritis is closely related to eye disease, which also called chronic nephritis. The patients with chronic nephritis are usually no more than 30 years old. Main Renal lesions include hyperplasia and degeneration, both will lead to arteriolar sclerosis and occlusive endings arteritis. So the patients will experience retinal changes due to vasomotor spasm and induration. The ocular findings mainly contain impaired vision and eyelid edema especially in morning.

So the nephritis patients should take eye check regularly to clear their own physical condition.
